an idea how to 'soften' add a reverse lamp
This switch may be used on Morris Minor 1000, MGA, Sprite Midget, etc. Depends on the type of the gearbox.
The Minor was developed approx. 1948. At this time there were no ideas of a reverse lamp. This is why no vehicle of this age does have a reverse lamp fitted.
In the early 70ies it was fashion to fit several lamps in front and at the rear of the car - some were useful other not. One of the useful lamps - I suggest - are the reverse lamps. The market for these accessories supported these wishes.
The road-regulations were adapted and still requests an automatic switching of the reverse lamp. It is not allowed to switch the reverse lamp manually. This because it may be forgotten to switch it off and then dazzle the following traffic.
This regulation is no problem for - more or less - new vehicles. But for our old metal this is sometimes a problem.
This was the reason why I scratched my head and did a little thinking. This gearbox-switch is the result.
The fixing is extremely simple: just take the corresponding bolt out of the gearbox - put in the reverse lamp switch - connect the wires - finished.
This switch consists of two items:
- the adapter
- the switch itself
if you will need only the adapter it is ok for me. Just let me know.
